Cairn Oil & Gas marks Earth Day 2026 with Community-led Plantation Drive in Assam
The plantation drive was carried out at the Borchapori Community Centre and Cairn’s Hazarigaon site in Golaghat, bringing together local community members and employees in a collective effort to strengthen green cover and enhance ecological resilience. A variety of fruit-bearing and native saplings, such as mango, amla, neem, olive, and guava, were planted as part of the drive.
Designed to deliver lasting ecological and social value, the plantation focused on species that support biodiversity, improve air quality, support soil and groundwater health, and provide sustainable access to fruits and shade for nearby communities. The activity also aimed to build greater awareness around environmental stewardship at the grassroots level.
The Earth Day initiative reflects Cairn’s broader commitment to responsible operations and sustainability, with a continued focus on integrating environmental, social, and governance (ESG) priorities into its core business practices.
In line with its stewardship efforts, Cairn reported a Net Water Positive Impact (NPWI) index of 1.18, underscoring its focus on responsible water management.
Through such initiatives, Cairn Oil & Gas continues to work closely with communities and stakeholders, advancing sustainable development while responsibly balancing India’s energy needs with environmental accountability.
