13 GUICE trainees clear APSC CCE: Gauhati University initiative delivers by results

Guwahati, February 18, 2026:  As many as thirteen candidates trained under Gauhati University’s Initiative for Competitive Examinations (GUICE) have secured positions in the Assam Public Service Commission (APSC) Combined Competitive Examination (CCE) 2024, underlining the growing impact of structured, institution-led support for competitive examinations.

The successful outcomes follow a free, special interview-preparation programme conducted for candidates who qualified for the final stage of the examination. The programme was organised under the GUICE framework and focused on mock interviews and practical training to prepare aspirants for the personality test.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Nani Gopal Mahanta, under whose leadership GUICE was launched in 2024, described the results as a validation of the University’s broader vision. “GUICE is a landmark initiative that reflects Gauhati University’s commitment to nurturing excellence beyond classrooms. Competitive examinations open doors to public leadership, and the University must actively support students in preparing for them,” he said.

GUICE was introduced as part of Gauhati University’s efforts to strengthen career-oriented academic support. Following this initiative, the University’s Pre-Examination Training Cell (PETC) was restructured to place focused emphasis on competitive examinations, combining long-term preparation modules with targeted interview coaching.

The special practice programme was conducted under the supervision of former APSC Chairman Bharat Bhushan Dev Choudhury, and included candidates from the 2024–25 batch of main examination qualifiers.

GUICE operates through two streams: a long-term training programme offering structured preparation across subjects, and an interview preparation module designed to build confidence through mock interviews and practical exercises.

The successful candidates include:
Anindita Das (Rank 13, Assam Civil Service), Rinky Rani Das (Rank 24, Assam Civil Service), Antarikhya Sarma (Rank 5, Assistant Manager/Assistant Industries Officer/Superintendent of Industries), Mintu Nath (Rank 2, Assistant Registrar of Cooperative Societies), Girish Patodia (Rank 8, Assam Finance Service), Bijit Das (Rank 45, Assam Finance Service), Himakshi Baruah (Rank 4, Inspector of Taxes), Bhaskar Jyoti Hazarika (Rank 10, Inspector of Taxes), Nasreen Sabrina Islam (Rank 11, Inspector of Taxes), Victor Talukdar (Rank 24, Inspector of Taxes), Arnab Jyoti Sarma (Rank 36, Inspector of Taxes), Jitassa Das (Rank 5, Inspector of Labour), and Rajib Kalita (Rank 4, Assistant Employment Officer).

Registrar Prof. Utpal Sarma said the GUICE programme focuses not only on examination readiness but also on building confidence and a sense of public responsibility among students. PETC Deputy Director Dr. Sanjay Kumar Dutta added that the initiative emphasises consistent guidance, practice and practical exposure, and similar programmes will continue in the future.

Programme Coordinator Vidyarthi Mahanta and members of the Gauhati University fraternity congratulated the successful candidates and wished them success in their public service careers.
