Northeast Frontier Railway Installed EV Charging Facilities at its Headquarters in Maligaon

 Guwahati, 16th October, 2026:

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) installed electric vehicle (EV) charging facilities at its Headquarters in Maligaon, Guwahati, on 16th October 2026. The facilities were inaugurated by Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager, Northeast Frontier Railway, in the presence of senior officials of NFR Headquarters. The initiative marks a significant step towards promoting sustainable mobility and encouraging the adoption of electric vehicles. The newly installed facilities cater to both four-wheelers and two-wheelers, providing convenient charging options for employees and visitors and supporting the growing shift towards cleaner and more environmentally friendly transportation.

The facilities include a 60 kW DC fast charger with dual guns for four-wheelers, equipped with CCS2 connectors compatible with electric cars of different makes and models. The charger offers an estimated charging time of approximately 30–40 minutes, enabling quicker charging and reducing waiting time for users. This facility is expected to make EV charging more convenient for car users and support the growing adoption of electric vehicles.

In addition, a 3.3 kW charger with a universal socket for two-wheelers has been installed to facilitate the charging of electric two-wheelers. Depending on the make and model of the vehicle, the charging time may be up to 1.5 hours, providing a practical charging option for daily commuters and other users.

The installation of these facilities is expected to improve access to EV charging infrastructure within the NFR Headquarters premises, encourage employees and visitors to opt for electric mobility and reduce dependence on conventional fossil-fuel-powered vehicles. The initiative also reflects Northeast Frontier Railway’s commitment to promoting environmentally responsible practices and supporting cleaner, more sustainable transportation.
