NFR Observes Swachhata Hi Sewa 2026 with Nationwide Cleanliness and Awareness Initiatives

Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) today marked the
commencement of Swachhata Hi Sewa 2026, Swachhata Pakhwada 2026 and Special
Campaign 6.0 under the theme “Swachhata Mein Sahbhag, Swachh Bharat, Viksit
Bharat” with a Swachhata Pledge taking Ceremony held at Dr. Bhupen Hazarika
Sabhagriha in front of the General Manager’s Office at Maligaon. General

Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava along with senior officials and staff of NFR
Headquarters, participated in the ceremony and took the Swachhata Pledge,
reaffirming NFR’s commitment towards cleanliness, hygiene, sanitation and
active public participation.
The Swachhata Hi Sewa 2026 campaign
is being observed from 17th September 2026, with a series of
cleanliness, sanitation and awareness activities being organised across NFR,
culminating in the observance of Swachh Bharat Diwas on 2nd October
2026. The campaign will be observed across stations, trains, workshops, railway
colonies, offices and other railway establishments with emphasis on
cleanliness, sustainability, hygiene and public awareness.
Throughout the campaign period, NFR
will organise a wide range of activities under the theme “Swachhotsav”. These
will include intensive cleanliness drives at station premises, tracks, railway
colonies and offices, awareness campaigns for passengers and local communities,
interactive sessions and workshops for railway staff, cleanliness pledges and
special initiatives for the identification, segregation and disposal of
unserviceable materials.
The NFR Construction Organisation
is also participating in the campaign. General Manager, NFR Construction, Shri
Ashish Bansal, along with senior officials, took the Swachhata Pledge at the
office premises. Similar activities are being organised at various offices and
project locations under the Construction Organisation. All five divisions of
NFR Katihar, Alipurduar, Rangiya, Lumding and Tinsukia are conducting cleanliness
drives and awareness programmes at railway stations, offices and other
premises. Senior officials and staff are participating through pledge-taking
and awareness activities, while passengers and members of the public are also
being encouraged to join the campaign, promoting collective responsibility for
clean and hygienic railway premises.
The campaign will also encourage
greater participation of passengers, railway employees and members of local
communities through awareness activities and public engagement programmes. Such
initiatives will help reinforce the message that cleanliness of railway
premises is a collective responsibility requiring regular participation and
awareness.
Through coordinated participation
across its Headquarters, five divisions and Construction Organisation, NFR is
undertaking Swachhata Hi Sewa 2026 as a collective cleanliness and awareness
campaign aimed at strengthening cleanliness practices and encouraging sustained
public participation. The activities leading up to Swachh Bharat Diwas on 2nd
October will further reinforce the importance of maintaining clean, hygienic
and sustainable railway premises.
