Twin Leopard Sighting Sparks Fresh Panic in Maligaon

Guwahati, August 13: Panic has once again gripped the Maligaon area following the sighting of two leopards. On Wednesday midnight, two leopards were reportedly seen roaming freely near the Vaishnav Devi Temple area in Maligaon. Local residents captured visuals of the two leopards on their mobile phones, triggering concern and excitement across the locality.

According to local residents, leopard movement has been observed in the area for a long time, particularly as the animals venture into the locality in search of food. Residents are especially worried about the presence of leopards in densely populated areas at night. The sighting of two leopards together near the Vaishnav Devi Temple at midnight has further heightened the fear among residents.

Locals said that the region was once covered by dense forests. However, as forest areas have gradually been cleared and human settlements have expanded, the natural habitat of wild animals has become increasingly limited. As a result, wild animals are being forced to enter residential and populated areas in search of food and shelter.

The reported free movement of the leopards has already created widespread concern and panic in the Maligaon area.
