Newborn’s Body Found Near Petrol Pump in Lower Haflong; Police Open Investigation
Haflong, July 31 — Police recovered the body of a newborn near the Indian Oil petrol pump in Lower Haflong on Friday. Initial reports indicate the infant was roughly six to seven months old.
Locals discovered the body early Friday morning and alerted Haflong police, who promptly arrived at the scene, retrieved the remains and initiated legal procedures. Authorities suspect an unidentified person or persons left the body at the location late Thursday night.
A case has been registered at Haflong Police Station and an investigation is underway to identify those responsible and determine the circumstances surrounding the death. Investigators are awaiting the autopsy report to establish the exact cause of death.
