Awareness Programme on Solid Waste Management Rules Held at Haflong Government College
Haflong, June 25: An awareness programme on the Solid Waste Management Rules, 2026, along with a prize distribution ceremony for winners of a drawing competition organised on the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, was held at the Auditorium Hall of Haflong Government College on Thursday.
The programme was organised by the Assam Pollution Control Board (APCB), Regional Laboratory-cum-Office (RLO), Silchar, in association with Haflong Government College under the banner of the Lifestyle for Environment (LiFE) initiative.
The event aimed to create awareness among students and the public about proper waste management practices and environmental conservation.
Participants were sensitised on the importance of segregation of waste at source, scientific disposal of solid waste, recycling, and the role of citizens in maintaining a clean and sustainable environment. Speakers highlighted the need for collective efforts to address growing waste management challenges and encouraged the adoption of eco-friendly lifestyles.
As part of the programme, prizes were distributed to the winners of the drawing competition conducted during the observance of World Environment Day. The competition focused on themes related to environmental protection, cleanliness, and sustainable living.
