Dr. Ranjan Kr Kakati Receives Best Performing MY Bharat–NSS Programme Coordinator Award
Guwahati 31st May: Dr. Ranjan Kumar Kakati, Director, Students’ Welfare and Programme Coordinator , NSS Cell, Gauhati University, has been honoured with the Best Performing MY Bharat–NSS Programme Coordinator Award at the national-level program Chintan Shivir held at IIM Shillong on May 29–30, 2026.
The award was presented by Union Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, and Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Khadse, in the presence of senior officials from the Ministry of Youth Affairs, MY Bharat, and NSS.
Dr. Kakati received the prestigious recognition for his outstanding contribution to community service, youth development, and social welfare activities in Assam. Under his leadership, the Gauhati University NSS Cell, which supervises over 156 NSS units, has significantly expanded programmes on environmental conservation, disaster preparedness, blood donation, health awareness, anti-drug campaigns, plantation drives, and rural development.
In North East India , Gauhati University and Dr Ranjan Kr Kakati is the first recipient of the National NSS Award (2019–20) being conferred by former President of India Ram Nath Kovind at Rashtrapati Bhawan on 24th September, 2021 and Dr Kakati also received the Assam State NSS Award (2021–22) being conferred by Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma, CM Assam in presence of former Governor of Assam Golab Chand Kataria. Dr. Kakati has played a pivotal role in inspiring youth towards nation-building and social responsibility. His achievement has brought pride to Gauhati University and the NSS movement in Assam.
