Assam’s Bhut Jolokia Creates Buzz in Foreign Markets

Gohpur, 30th May: Assam’s famous Bhut Jolokia, popularly known as the Ghost Pepper, is gaining increasing demand in international markets. Renowned as one of the world’s hottest chillies, Bhut Jolokia has become a valuable agricultural product from the Northeast, attracting buyers from countries such as the United Kingdom, the United States, Germany, Canada, and Australia.

In Gohpur and nearby areas, many farmers have taken up Bhut Jolokia cultivation due to its high market value. The chilli fetches attractive prices in both domestic and export markets, helping cultivators earn better incomes. Farmers say that the growing global demand for fresh, dried, and processed Bhut Jolokia products has significantly improved their financial condition.

Agriculture experts believe that the favourable climate of Assam contributes to the unique flavour and extreme pungency of the chilli. With improved transportation and export facilities, Bhut Jolokia is reaching international consumers more efficiently than ever before. The export of the chilli from Guwahati to London marked a major milestone in promoting Assam’s agricultural products worldwide.

Local farmers in Gohpur have expressed optimism about the future, stating that Bhut Jolokia cultivation is not only increasing their earnings but also creating employment opportunities in rural areas. As global demand continues to rise, Assam’s iconic chilli is strengthening its position in the international spice market while boosting the rural economy of the state.
