Artificial Flood Issue Reviewed at GMC Office in Ujanbazar


Guwahati, April 28: A special review meeting on the issue of artificial flooding in various parts of Guwahati was held today at the office of the Guwahati Municipal Corporation in Ujanbazar.

The meeting focused on identifying the causes behind recurring artificial floods in the city and discussing effective measures to resolve the problem. Key officials present included the Deputy Mayor of GMC, Smita Roy, and Additional Commissioner Dhruvajyoti Hazarika, along with other concerned authorities.

During the session, participants emphasized the urgent need for coordinated efforts to tackle waterlogging issues, improve drainage systems, and ensure long-term solutions for residents affected by artificial flooding.

Officials reiterated that maintaining and developing the city is a shared responsibility. Representatives and councillors associated with the Guwahati Municipal Corporation, along with members of the Bharatiya Janata Party and BJP Assam Pradesh, also attended the meeting and expressed their commitment to addressing the issue.

The review concluded with a call for prompt action and continued monitoring to mitigate artificial flooding and improve urban infrastructure across the city.
