Two-Day Homeopathic Seminar on Respiratory and Mental Health Held in Guwahati
Guwahati 11th March: A two-day Scientific Seminar on “Emerging Disease Patterns in North-East India: A Homoeopathic Perspective on Respiratory and Mental Health” was inaugurated on 9th March at Hotel Lily, G.S. Road, Guwahati. The seminar is being organized by the Regional Research Institute for Homoeopathy, Guwahati, under the Central Council for Research in Homoeopathy (CCRH), Ministry of AYUSH, Government of India.
The inaugural session was graced by Dr. Indranoshee Das, ACS, Director of AYUSH, Government of Assam, as the Chief Guest. In her address, she emphasized the growing importance of understanding emerging disease patterns in the North-East region and highlighted the potential role of Homoeopathy in addressing public health challenges in Assam. Referring to ongoing initiatives, she mentioned that around 500 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AYUSH) are currently functional in Assam, providing accessible healthcare services to the community.
Other dignitaries on the dais included Prof. (Dr.) Abhijit Chattopadhyay, Former Director and Former Professor & HOD, Department of Materia Medica, National Institute of Homoeopathy, Kolkata, and Dr. Deepen Baruah, Deputy Director of AYUSH-cum-Registrar, Board of Homoeopathic System of Medicine, Assam.
Welcoming the gathering, Dr. Amulya Ratna Sahoo, Research Officer (Homoeopathy)/Scientist-IV & Officer In-Charge of RRI(H), Guwahati, emphasized the importance of scientific dialogue and collaborative learning in strengthening Homoeopathic practice and research. He noted that the seminar has brought together around 250 registered medical practitioners from across Assam, making it one of the largest scientific gatherings of Homoeopathic practitioners in the region.
The seminar focuses on the changing disease patterns in North-East India, particularly the increasing burden of respiratory disorders and mental health conditions, and explores the role of Homoeopathy in their management through research, clinical experience, and academic exchange.
Eminent speakers including Prof. (Dr.) Abhijit Chattopadhyay, Prof. (Dr.) Subhas Singh, Dr. Chintamani Nayak, Dr. Hadi Kamrul Islam, Dr. Hrishikesh Sarma, Dr. Soumendu Bhattacharya, and Dr. Deepen Baruah also delivered lectures during the scientific sessions.
The seminar featured scientific lectures, interactive sessTions, and a quiz competition for participants. Discussions during the two-day event provided valuable insights into current disease trends in the North-East and the scope of Homoeopathic management in respiratory and mental health conditions. The seminar concluded on 10 March 2026 with a valedictory session and distribution of certificates and prizes to participants.
