Northeast Frontier Railway Upgrades Railway HS School at Maligaon


 

Guwahati, 20th January, 2026: Northeast Frontier Railway has undertaken comprehensive upgradation of the Higher Secondary School at Maligaon, reaffirming its commitment towards strengthening educational institutions under its administrative care.

As part of the upgradation, several infrastructure and academic facilities have been enhanced, including construction of two new classrooms, development of a new playground, a newly renovated entry gate, prayer hall, renovated toilets, installation of granite on staircases, strengthening of the boundary wall, renovation of doors and windows, and construction of a new corridor, creating a safer, cleaner and more student-friendly learning environment.

The Railway Higher Secondary School at Maligaon, established in 1959, stands as one of the oldest educational institutions under Northeast Frontier Railway, with a proud legacy spanning more than six decades. The school has played a significant role in imparting quality education to generations of students, particularly the wards of railway employees and the surrounding local community, while consistently promoting academic excellence, discipline and holistic development.


The newly upgraded Railway Higher Secondary School, Maligaon was inaugurated on 20th January, 2026 by Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager, Northeast Frontier Railway, in the presence of senior railway officers, school authorities, teachers and staff members, with the objective of preserving its rich legacy while aligning with modern educational standards.

The inauguration of the upgraded facilities marks a significant milestone in the long-standing journey of the Railway Higher Secondary School, Maligaon, seamlessly integrating its historic heritage with modern infrastructure for the overall benefit of students.
