NFR Advances Rail Modernisation with LHB Coaches on Important Northeast Trains
Guwahati, 2 January, 2026: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has introduced modern LHB (Linke Hofmann Busch) coaches on two important train services Agartala – Dharmanagar – Agartala Passenger and Silchar–Agartala–Silchar Express. The upgradation aims to enhance passenger safety, comfort and overall travel experience in the region.
According to an official statement given by Kapinjal Kishore Sharma Chief Public Relations Officer, the upgraded LHB rake of Agartala–Dharmanagar–Agartala Passenger Train (No. 55675/55676) was ceremonially flagged off on 1st January, 2026 at Agartala Railway Station by Sri Rajib Bhattacharjee, Hon’ble Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) and Smt. The new coaches also offer better seating arrangements, enhanced interiors and improved maintenance standards, contributing to a safer and more comfortable journey for passengers. This upgradation is part of Indian Railways’ broader initiative to modernise rolling stock and provide world class passenger services. The move is expected to benefit daily commuters, long-distance travellers and tourists alike, while strengthening rail connectivity between Tripura, Assam and adjoining regions.
NFR remains committed to continuous improvement in passenger amenities, operational efficiency and service reliability, in line with Indian Railways’ vision of a modern, safe and passenger centric railway network.
