NCHAC Meeting Charts New Course for B.Ed Admissions
Haflong, December 4: In a significant step toward resolving the ongoing concerns around B.Ed admissions in Dima Hasao, a high-level joint meeting was held at the Officers’ Conference Hall, North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) on Wednesday.
The meeting was chaired by the Executive Member (i/c Education), NCHAC, and attended by Principal Secretary P.S. Johori, Secretary (i/c Education) Rebeca Cangsan, the Principal of DIET Kalachand, and representatives of the North Cachar Hills Indigenous Students’ Forum (NCHISF).
The session focused on addressing key challenges faced by aspiring B.Ed candidates in the district, particularly those related to admission procedures, seat allocation, and institutional preparedness. Representatives of NCHISF highlighted issues raised by students, urging the council to ensure fairness, transparency, and timely communication in the admission process.
Officials of NCHAC assured the forum that the council is committed to finding a sustainable and student-friendly solution. They emphasized that necessary steps will be initiated to streamline the admission system, strengthen the capacity of DIET Kalachand, and ensure proper coordination between the education department and student bodies.
The meeting concluded with a consensus to formulate a clear roadmap addressing immediate concerns and laying the groundwork for long-term reforms in teacher education within the district. Further consultations are expected in the coming days to finalize the framework.
