Dima Hasao’s Benla Kemrpai Wins Bronze at 41st Senior National Taekwondo Championship
Haflong, December15: Dima Hasao’s Benla Kemrpai has once again brought laurels to Assam and her home district by winning a Bronze Medal at the 41st Senior National Taekwondo Championship, held from December 12 to 14, 2025, at the prestigious GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium, Hyderabad, Telangana.
The championship witnessed fierce competition, with top senior-category taekwondo athletes from across the country showcasing exceptional skill, strength, and fighting spirit. Amid this intense contest, Benla Kemrpai delivered an outstanding performance to secure a place on the podium, marking another significant milestone in her sporting career.
Her national-level bronze medal reflects years of disciplined training, unwavering dedication, and consistent hard work. Coaches, sports officials, and enthusiasts have widely praised her achievement, noting that such success stories will inspire young athletes from Dima Hasao and other hill districts to pursue excellence in martial arts.
The 41st Senior National Taekwondo Championship served as an important platform for identifying elite talent and promoting the growth of taekwondo in India. Benla Kemrpai’s success has added yet another proud chapter to the sporting achievements of both Dima Hasao district and Assam.
In the overall medal standings, Manipur clinched the Gold, Kerala secured the Silver, while Assam and Maharashtra jointly won Bronze medals. Meanwhile, the Assam team delivered an impressive overall performance by securing the title of 2nd Best Poomsae Team, highlighting the state’s rising prominence in national-level taekwondo.
The medal ceremony was further enlivened by the presence of Telugu film industry celebrities, who attended as special invitees, adding glamour to the prestigious national event.
Earlier, Benla Kemrpai had gained national recognition by winning a Bronze Medal at the 38th National Games in 2025. In recognition of her sporting excellence, the Assam Government appointed her as a Junior Administrative Assistant in the Assam Transport Department under the sports quota, making her an inspiration for young sportspersons by balancing both academic and athletic success.
