Bangali Parishad in Assam's Dima Hasao district submits memo to Prime Minister Narendra Modi
Haflong December 22: Bangali Parishad in Assam's Dima Hasao district has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address the lynching of Hindu youth Dipu Chandra Das in Bangladesh and protect minorities there. The organization's local committees sent a memorandum through the District Commissioner in Haflong, condemning fundamentalist attacks and demanding action against illegal Bangladeshi immigrants. This protest aligns with broader outrage across Assam over the Mymensingh incident.
Dipu Chandra Das, a 27-year-old Hindu garment factory worker, was beaten to death by a mob in Bhaluka, Mymensingh, on December 18, 2025, over unverified blasphemy allegations. His body was hung from a tree on the Dhaka-Mymensingh highway and set on fire, with videos circulating widely on social media. Bangladeshi authorities found no evidence of derogatory remarks by Das, arrested 10-12 suspects, and condemned the violence through the interim government led by Muhammad Yunus.
Members of Bangali Parishad Assam's Dima Hasao District Committee and Haflong Ancholik Committee expressed deep concern over recurring attacks on Hindus in Bangladesh. The letter highlights Das's brutal killing as evidence of rising Islamic extremism and calls for India to raise human rights violations internationally while pushing back illegal Bangladeshi Muslim immigrants from Assam. They expressed hope in the Prime Minister's leadership to resolve these longstanding issues.
