Partition Horrors Remembrance Day observed in Haflong with candlelight march




Haflong, August 14: The District Administration, Dima Hasao, observed Partition Horrors Remembrance Day in Haflong on Friday with a candlelight march from Lal Field to CHT Synod, commemorating the victims and survivors of the Partition of India.

The candlelight march was attended by Chairman Mohet Hojai, Executive Member of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC) Donpainon Thaosen, BJP District President and MAC Dhriti Thaosen, MACs Jonh Phoithong, Pronath Rajiyung and Herojit Jidung, ADC Shaurya Sharma, along with other officials and a large number of residents of Haflong town.


Participants carried candles during the march and paid tribute to those who lost their lives and suffered displacement and hardships during the Partition. The programme also sought to remember the painful experiences of Partition and spread a message of peace, unity and communal harmony.

The observance concluded at CHT Synod, where participants joined in remembering the victims and reflecting on the historical events and their lasting impact on generations.
