Gauhati university Observed “Sok Divas”

Guwahati, 16th August: Gauhati University observed “Sok Divas” on 16 August 2026 in front of Administrative building, Gauhati University with due solemnity, in remembrance of the innocent children and citizens who lost their lives in the 2004 Dhemaji bomb blast and other acts of militant violence. An oath against terrorism and violence were taken by the members present in the program led by Dr Ranjan Kr Kakati, Secretary, University Classes, GU. The programme  attended by 

Dr. Kuldeep Patgiri, Deputy Director, Students’ Welfare; Shri Pankaj Kalita, Security Officer; Shri Gunjan Deka, President, PGSU ,Shri Prabal  Jyoti Sarma G.S. PGSU , University employees and students.

A one-minute silence was observed in memory of the victims, followed by the Anti-Terrorism and Anti-Militancy Pledge. The National Flag was also flown at half-mast as a mark of respect.

The observance reaffirmed our collective commitment to peace, unity, harmony and a violence-free society.
