6th MLA Cup Women’s Football Tournament Opens in Maibang

 Maibang, August 26: The All Assam Invitational Women’s Knockout Football Tournament, 6th MLA Cup 2026, got underway at Dishru Mlaoyam in Maibang on Wednesday with the participation of teams from across Assam.

The opening ceremony was attended by Dima Hasao Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa, MLA Rupali Langthasa, MLA Mrinal Saikia, Chairman Mohet Hojai along with Executive Members, Members of the Autonomous Council and other dignitaries.

The tournament aims to promote women’s football and provide a platform for talented players to showcase their skills while encouraging sportsmanship and sporting culture in Dima Hasao.

In the opening match, Tezpur produced a dominant performance, defeating Khumtai Warrior of Golaghat 5–0 to make a strong start to their campaign.

The organisers extended their appreciation to the participating teams, players, supporters and all those associated with the tournament. 

The 6th MLA Cup is expected to provide an exciting platform for women footballers and further boost the popularity of the sport in the hill district.

The tournament will continue with matches involving teams competing for the coveted MLA Cup 2026 title.
