Summer Vacation Workshop Concludes in Haflong, Showcasing Young Talent

 Haflong, July 28: The 15-day Summer Vacation Workshop 2026, organised by the Department of Cultural Affairs in collaboration with the Dima Hasao District Administration, concluded on Monday at Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Boro Haflong, with an impressive display of music, dance, drama and yoga performances by students.

The workshop, which commenced on July 15, was conducted simultaneously at Saraswati Vidya Mandir, Boro Haflong and PM SHRI Maibang Higher Secondary School under the 113 Haflong (ST) Legislative Assembly Constituency. The initiative was aimed at providing school students with a creative and productive platform during the summer vacation while promoting physical fitness, artistic expression and cultural awareness.

More than 40 students participated at the Saraswati Vidya Mandir centre. During the closing programme, the participants showcased the skills they had acquired over the two-week workshop through a series of colourful cultural performances. Among the highlights were the presentation of Mati Akhora from the Satriya dance tradition and a group rendition of Dr. Bhupen Hazarika's timeless composition Manuhe Manuhor Babe, both learned during the workshop.

The valedictory function was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Shaurya Sharma as the chief guest. Assistant Commissioner Junali Devi and Cultural Development Officer Gautam Bodo were also present on the occasion.

Organisers said the workshop successfully encouraged young participants to explore both traditional and contemporary art forms, helping strengthen cultural values while inspiring them to remain actively involved in community-based cultural activities.
