NFR Registers Encouraging Growth in Freight Loading During June 2026

Guwahati, 6th July, 2026:         

In its continued commitment towards efficient freight operations and timely transportation of essential commodities, Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has achieved encouraging growth in freight loading during June 2026. N.F. Railway recorded a total freight loading of 0.968 million tonnes (MT) during the month, registering a 9.6% increase over the corresponding period of the previous year while achieving 110% of the monthly loading target. 

Several key commodities registered remarkable growth during June 2026. Cement loading witnessed a significant rise of 53.1%, while Petroleum Oil & Lubricants (POL) loading increased by 41.7% over the same period last year. Coal loading also recorded a healthy growth of 37.5%, followed by the "Others" category, which increased by 36.2%. Additionally, under the "Others" category, stone chips loading registered an exceptional growth of 275%, reflecting enhanced movement of construction related materials across the region. Further, the cumulative freight loading up to June 2026 reached 2.931 million tonnes, registering a 6.2% growth over the corresponding period of the previous year and achieving 109% of the Board's cumulative target. 

The steady increase in freight loading highlights the growing economic and industrial activities across the Northeast and adjoining areas. This sustained growth has not only strengthened the regional supply chain network but has also contributed significantly to the revenue earnings of Northeast Frontier Railway.

NFR continues to focus on technological advancements, operational efficiency and customer-centric freight services to ensure reliable transportation and sustained growth in freight movement in the coming months.
