Maibang, July 2: The Chairman of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC), Mohet Hojai, on Thursday inaugurated the Maibang Zone Under-17 Boys/Girls and Under-15 Boys Football Tournament at Dishru Mlaoyam, Maibang.
The inaugural programme was attended by Executive Member Monjoy Langthasa, along with officials of the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, local leaders, sports enthusiasts, teachers, students, and members of the public.
The tournament has been organized by the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, DHAC, with the objective of identifying and nurturing young football talent while encouraging teamwork, discipline, and healthy competition among students across the Maibang Zone.
Speaking on the occasion, Chairman Mohet Hojai highlighted the importance of sports in shaping the character and overall development of young people. He encouraged the participants to play with dedication, discipline, and true sportsmanship, emphasizing that such competitions provide an excellent platform for aspiring athletes to showcase their abilities.
He also extended his best wishes to all the participating teams and expressed hope that the tournament would be conducted successfully while inspiring more youth to actively participate in sports.
The event began with an enthusiastic response from players and spectators, marking the start of an exciting football tournament in the Maibang Zone.
