DHAC CEM Hails Assam Budget, Seeks Higher Council Revenue


 Haflong, July 20: Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC) Chief Executive Member Debolal Gorlosa on Monday welcomed the Assam Budget for 2026-27, describing it as a balanced and development-oriented budget that provides satisfactory allocations for Dima Hasao.

Addressing a press conference at Bajpayee Bhawan in Haflong, Gorlosa expressed his appreciation to Chief Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma and Finance Minister Jayanta Malla Barua for presenting what he termed a people-centric budget with a strong focus on inclusive development.

Accompanied by Haflong MLA Rupali Langthasa, BJP President , Dhriti Thaosen, the CEM said the budget has accorded high priority to women empowerment, youth development, tourism, healthcare, and road connectivity, which are crucial for the overall progress of the hill district.

Gorlosa also outlined the council's plans to significantly enhance its own revenue generation. He said the DHAC has initiated measures to increase its annual revenue target from the present Rs 120 crore to Rs 500 crore.

He expressed confidence that the proposed initiatives would strengthen the council's financial position and enable it to accelerate developmental activities across Dima Hasao.

The CEM reiterated the council's commitment to ensuring faster implementation of infrastructure and welfare projects to improve the quality of life of the people in the district.
