Assam Taekwondo Stars Shine at 5th India Poomsae National Championship

 Haflong July 11:  Three young athletes from Dima Hasao, Assam Benla Kemprai, Pollabi Handique, and Hrittika Alamyan clinched gold medals while representing Team Assam at the 5th India Taekwondo Poomsae National Championship 2026–27. 

The prestigious event was held from July 8 to 11, 2026, at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi, Pune, Maharashtra, and was organized by India Taekwondo.

Their outstanding performances have earned them selection for the National Training Camp, a key preparatory step towards the World Taekwondo Poomsae Championship 2026, scheduled to be held in Chuncheon, South Korea.

The trio’s success has brought immense pride to the district as well as state of Assam and highlighted the growing strength of Taekwondo in the region.

 Officials and sports enthusiasts have extended heartfelt congratulations to the medal winners for their dedication and excellence on the national stage.

With this achievement, all eyes are now on these talented athletes as they prepare to represent India on the international platform. The Assam Taekwondo community and sports lovers across the country are wishing Benla, Pollabi, and Hrittika the very best for their upcoming challenges in South Korea.
