7 Assam Bn NCC conducted 4 x IDSSC Firing Practice Camps-cum-Combined Annual Training Camps Successfully at Girijananda Chowdhury University

 Guwahati 21 July: The camps witnessed the participation of an average of **400 NCC cadets** in each camp, drawn from various NCC units under Guwahati Group. The training was organised with the primary objective of enhancing the shooting skills of cadets, preparing them for the **Inter Directorate Service Shooting Championship (IDSSC) 2026**, while simultaneously imparting comprehensive military and personality development training under the Combined Annual Training Camp curriculum.

Throughout the camps, cadets underwent intensive firing practice under the supervision of qualified instructors and experienced coaching staff. Training covered weapon handling, safety procedures, marksmanship, grouping and zeroing, firing techniques, and range discipline. The programme was designed to improve precision, confidence, and overall shooting proficiency in accordance with NCC training standards.

In addition to firing practice, the cadets participated in a wide range of military and leadership activities, including drill, map reading, field craft and battle craft, physical training, yoga, adventure activities, personality development lectures, social service initiatives, cultural programmes, and games. These activities aimed to foster discipline, leadership, teamwork, and the spirit of national integration among the cadets.

The camps also served as a platform for identifying and grooming talented shooters who will represent the NCC North Eastern Region Directorate at the forthcoming Inter Directorate Service Shooting Championship (IDSSC) 2026.

The successful conduct of the camps reflects the commitment of the NCC towards developing disciplined, confident, and socially responsible youth while nurturing future leaders and promoting excellence in shooting sports.

The camps concluded on 21 July 2026 with the cadets expressing enthusiasm and confidence gained through the rigorous training. The initiative reaffirmed the NCC's motto, "Unity and Discipline," while strengthening the spirit of patriotism, selfless service, and dedication among the youth.
