Sarbananda Sonowal Meets Eminent Citizens Across Tingkhong and Khowang During BJP's Jan Sampark Abhiyan
Dibrugarh, June 28: Union Minister of Ports, Shipping & Waterways (MoPSW), Sarbananda Sonowal carried out an extensive outreach programme under the Bharatiya Janata Party's Jan Sampark Abhiyan across Tingkhong and Khowang Legislative Assembly Constituencies, interacting with eminent citizens, educators, entrepreneurs, journalists, artists, social workers and senior party karyakartas while highlighting the NDA government's 12-year journey of development under Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Beginning the day in Tingkhong LAC, Sonowal met State Cultural Awardee and renowned Mridangiya Gayan-Bayan artiste Lila Hazarika at Tinthengia Gaon Panchayat, where he also felicitated retired teacher and senior BJP karyakarta Jadav Hazarika for his longstanding contribution to the organisation and society.
The Dibrugarh Lok Sabha MP later visited distinguished social worker and retired teacher Sandeshwar Gogoi at Kekuri Dalpa Gaon Panchayat, followed by interactions with prominent businessmen Satyanarayan Agarwala and Gautam Ghosh in Moran. Sonowal also met senior journalist Shobhit Kumar Chettri at Piyoli Nagar and retired banker and social worker Babul Sonowal at Tiloi. During the second leg of the programme in Khowang LAC, Sonowal met senior BJP karyakarta and prominent businessman Uttam Roy, retired teacher Bipin Sarma, noted social worker and educationist Hridaya Gogoi, young entrepreneur Supriti Garg and entrepreneur Sarat Dutta.
During the interactions, Sonowal discussed the transformative initiatives undertaken by the NDA government over the past 12 years, including progress in education, infrastructure, healthcare, women- led development, entrepreneurship, employment generation and the Aatmanirbhar Bharat mission. Sonowal said the guidance, experience and constructive suggestions received from respected members of society would further strengthen the collective effort towards building a Viksit Assam and Viksit Bharat.
"The wisdom and lifelong service of our teachers, entrepreneurs, journalists, artists, social workers and senior karyakartas continue to inspire us. Their blessings and guidance strengthen our resolve to serve society with greater commitment while ensuring the benefits of development reach every section of the people," Sonowal said. As part of the Jan Sampark Abhiyan, Sonowal also highlighted the Modi government's people-centric initiatives and exchanged views on strengthening education, empowering women and youth, promoting entrepreneurship, preserving Assam's cultural heritage and accelerating inclusive development across the region.
Speaking about the initiative, Sarbananda Sonowal added, “Jan Sampark is not merely about reaching people; it is about listening to them, understanding their aspirations and strengthening the bond of trust between public representatives and society. It provides us an opportunity to directly engage with people, understand their concerns and work together towards building a stronger and more inclusive society. Jan Sampark is an effort to ensure that governance remains responsive, inclusive and people-centric."
Earlier in the day, Sonowal joined BJP karyakartas at Booth No. 53 under Moran Mandal in Tingkhong LAC to listen to the 135th episode of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's Mann Ki Baat. Assam Cabinet Minister Bimal Bora and other party leaders were present on the occasion. Speaking after the programme, Sonowal said the Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji's address reaffirmed the nation's commitment to indigenous defence manufacturing, environmental conservation, preservation of India's cultural heritage and the vision of an Aatmanirbhar Bharat, urging party workers to carry these messages to every household.
