Haflong Chess Player Selected to Represent Dima Hasao at State Championship

Haflong, June 13: Young chess player Atharb Saha of Haflong has been selected to represent Dima Hasao district in the 49th All Assam Inter District Chess Championship 2026 (Under-17 Boys & Girls), which will be held in Silchar from June 14 to 16.

Atharb, son of Sanjib Saha and a resident of Hagjer Nagar, Haflong, is a student of Kendriya Vidyalaya Haflong. He has been undergoing professional chess training at Queen Chess Academy under the guidance of coaches Ronit Dey and Raja Mitra.

A promising young talent, Atharb is affiliated with the Dima Hasao Chess Association, the All Assam Chess Association, and the All India Chess Federation.

His selection for the prestigious state-level championship has brought pride to the chess fraternity of Dima Hasao. Sports enthusiasts, coaches, and well-wishers across the district have extended their best wishes to Atharb for a successful performance and hope he will bring laurels to the district at the championship.
