New Bongaigaon Workshop Advances Modern Coach Rehabilitation under NFR
Guwahati, 29th May, 2026:
Northeast Frontier Railway
has achieved significant milestones at the Carriage & Wagon Workshop, New
Bongaigaon, reflecting its continued focus on modernization, safety enhancement
and operational excellence.
One of the key achievements
of Northeast Frontier Railway is the successful initiation of Mid-Life
Rehabilitation (MLR) work for Linke-Hofmann-Busch (LHB) coaches at the New
Bongaigaon Workshop. This development marks an important step towards enhancing
passenger comfort, operational safety and the reliability of modern coaching
stock. The first MLR coach is presently in the final stage of completion and is
expected to be turned out shortly, marking a significant milestone for the
workshop.
In another notable
achievement, NBQS has successfully installed and commissioned the LHB Bogie
Load Testing facility. With this facility, all critical bogie parameters under
load conditions are now being checked and verified before dispatch, ensuring
higher reliability, quality assurance and enhanced safety standards for
overhauled LHB bogies.
Additionally, the workshop
has also operationalized the shot blasting machine for LHB bogie frames and
bolsters. This initiative has enabled mechanized shot blasting with improved
surface finish quality, contributing to better maintenance standards and
operational efficiency.
These initiatives highlight
Northeast Frontier Railway’s commitment towards adopting advanced technologies,
improving maintenance practices and strengthening railway infrastructure across
the zone.
