Heavy Rainfall Forecast in Guwahati, Public Urged to Stay Alert
Guwahati, April 26: The Meteorological Department has forecast heavy rainfall in Guwahati over the next three to four days. According to the Regional Meteorological Centre, the city and its surrounding areas are likely to experience thunderstorms, gusty winds, and continuous rain. Rainfall of up to 7.20 cm within 24 hours is expected.
This situation may lead to waterlogging in several parts of the city, causing traffic congestion and possible flooding in low-lying areas. There is also an increased risk of landslides in hilly regions, which could disrupt normal daily life. The administration has kept a close watch on the situation and ensured that emergency services are fully prepared.
The Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) has advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel and remain cautious. Daily commuters and long-distance travelers have been urged to plan their journeys carefully in accordance with weather conditions. People living in low-lying and hilly areas have been specifically asked to stay alert for any signs of flooding or landslides.
Authorities stated that regular updates will be provided through ASDMA’s official website and social media platforms. Citizens have been urged to follow official guidelines to ensure safety during the prolonged spell of rain.
