Gauhati University Celebrates Asom Chatra Divas on 31st March
Guwahati 3rd April: Gauhati University observed Asom Chatra Divas on 31st March to mark the birth anniversary of Upendra Nath Brahma, revered as Bodofa, the “Father of the Bodos.”
Inaugurating the programme, Dr. Ranjan Kr. Kakati, Director of Students’ Welfare, highlighted Bodofa’s role as president of the All Bodo Students Union and his contributions towards the rights and development of the Bodo community. He emphasized Brahma’s ideals of discipline, integrity, and democratic values.
Invited speaker Sri Sudem Mushahary, Research Scholar, Department of Folklore Research, noted that the day reminds students of their social responsibilities. He underlined Bodofa’s belief in education as a tool for empowerment and his message of “Live and Let Live,” which continues to inspire unity and harmony.
The programme concluded with a tribute to Bodofa’s vision, encouraging students to follow the path of knowledge, unity, and selfless service.
