MoS Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay Kumar Visits Dima Hasao
Haflong, March 6: Bandi Sanjay Kumar, Minister of State for Home Affairs, Government of India, visited Dima Hasao District on Friday and interacted with local bodies and organisations to gather suggestions for the district’s development.
During a review meeting at the Circuit House with officials of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), the Minister stressed the need to strengthen departmental functioning and improve public services. Concerns regarding shortage of staff and hospital bed congestion were also raised.
CEM Debolal Gorlosa informed that the council has been unable to advertise new posts due to non-sanctioning of positions.
Meanwhile, education officials stated that over 100 appointments were recently made in the sector, while local bodies demanded a university campus, an engineering college and more central schools in remote areas.
During his visit, the Minister inspected PM Shri Government Girls Higher Secondary School, N.L. Daulagupu Sports Stadium and Haflong Civil Hospital. He also visited Sampardisa Village to review the implementation of schemes such as Jal Jeevan Mission and Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana – Gramin.
The Minister assured that the issues raised would be taken up with the concerned authorities for the overall development of the district.
