Former Union Minister Subhash Maharia Pays Homage to Dimaraji Martyrs in Dima Hasao


 Haflong, March 30: Former Union Minister of State for Food, Public Distribution and Consumer Affairs, Subhash Maharia, paid homage to the Dimaraji martyrs during his visit to Raja Govind Chandra Aarsh Gurukulam at Wasaikhong Diyungbra in Assam’s Dima Hasao district on Monday.

Maharia visited the Gurukulam campus and offered his respects to the martyrs of the Dimaraji movement. During the programme, he was felicitated by the Gurukulam society with traditional Dimasa attire and Naga shawls as a mark of respect and cultural honour.

As part of his visit, the former minister also toured the Martyrs Museum, where he appreciated the efforts made by the institution in preserving the historical monuments, literature, and legacy associated with the Dimaraji movement. He lauded the initiative, stating that such efforts play a vital role in keeping the history and identity of indigenous communities alive.

The managing committee of Raja Govind Chandra Aarsh Gurukulam expressed its gratitude to Maharia for his visit and words of encouragement. The committee also made an appeal for humanitarian assistance aimed at supporting the welfare and development of tribal communities residing in the hill districts of Assam.

The programme concluded with a message of unity and cultural pride, with members of the Gurukulam reiterating their commitment to preserving heritage and serving the community.
