Haflong, March 15: In a significant step toward improving educational infrastructure in Dima Hasao, the Chief Executive Member (CEM) of the Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC), Debolal Gorlosa, inaugurated a 50-bedded Boys’ Hostel and a 50-bedded Girls’ Hostel under the DAJGUA scheme.
The hostels were inaugurated at Wadrengdisa High School under the Maibang East Constituency and at Kalachand High School under the Kalachand Constituency. The initiative aims to support students from remote areas by providing safe accommodation and a conducive environment for their education and overall development.
Speaking on the occasion, the CEM highlighted that the new hostel facilities would help many students from distant villages continue their studies without facing difficulties related to travel and accommodation.
The programme was attended by Mohet Hojai, Chairman of DHAC; Monjoy Langthasa, MAC, DHAC; Ratan Jarambusa, MAC, DHAC; Pronen Haflongbar, CDC Chairman of Kalachand Constituency; Pronin Jidung, President of BJP Maibang Mandal; and Monjoy Thaosen, Chairman of Maibang Municipal Board.
Several Gaonburas (GBs), Mujaris, and village elders were also present during the inauguration ceremony. They expressed hope that the hostels would greatly benefit students and strengthen the education sector in the area.
