Two New Platforms Added to New Jalpaiguri Station


 

Guwahati, 03rd February, 2026: Northeast Frontier Railway has constructed additional two new platforms at New Jalpaiguri station under Katihar Division. This passenger-oriented initiative marks a significant upgrade in station infrastructure and is aimed at enhancing passenger amenities, ensuring smoother boarding and deboarding, improving operational efficiency and facilitating better handling of the increasing number of long-distance train services at this vital junction of the Northeast Frontier Railway network.


 

 Furtherly, as per the revised numbering system the newly constructed platforms from the main entrance side of the NJP station have been named as Platform No. 1 and Platform No. 2. The existing platforms have been systematically renumbered up to Platform No. 8. The earlier platforms have been realigned as follows: existing PF-1A has been renumbered as PF-3, PF-1 as PF-4, PF-2 as PF-5, PF-3 as PF-6, PF-4 as PF-7 and PF-5 as PF-8. This rationalisation is intended to bring uniformity, reduce operational confusion and ensure smoother train handling.

Several important long-distance trains have been nominated on the revised platforms at New Jalpaiguri station to ensure smoother passenger movement and efficient operations. Kamakhya – Howrah Vande Bharat Sleeper Express (27576 DN) and Guwahati – Rohtak Amrit Bharat Express (15671 DN), Dibrugarh – New Delhi Rajdhani Express (12423 DN), Guwahati – Kolkata Garib Rath Express (12518 DN) and Agartala – smvt Bengaluru Humsafar Express (12504 DN) have been nominated on Platform No. 6.


 

Other important long-distance services include Dibrugarh – Chandigarh Express (15903 DN) and Kamakhya – Anand Vihar Terminal Express (15621 DN) nominated on Platform No. 5, New Jalpaiguri – Howrah Vande Bharat Express (22302 DN) nominated on Platform No. 4. Additionally, New Jalpaiguri – Ara Express (13245 DN) has been nominated on Platform No. 2, further strengthening rail connectivity between the Northeast and major cities across the country.

Passengers travelling through New Jalpaiguri station are advised to carefully check the updated platform numbers through station announcements, digital display boards, enquiry counters and official railway communication channels. The revised platform arrangement is expected to improve train regulation, passenger movement and overall safety at New Jalpaiguri station.
