NFR to operate 5 pairs of Holi Special Trains

 

Guwahati, 08th February, 2026: Indian Railways once again demonstrates its commitment towards passenger convenience by launching Holi Special Trains for the festive rush. After operating a remarkable 1144 services last year, Indian Railways is set to operate 1500 special trains this year, ensuring smoother, more comfortable travel across major routes. This proactive planning highlights Indian Railways’ dedication to meeting festive demand and providing reliable travel options for millions of passengers.

In line with this initiative and to accommodate the increased passenger demand during the festive season of Holi, initially Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has already planned five pairs of special trains, with more trains to be announced in the coming days. These special trains will run between Narangi – Gorakhpur Jn. – Narangi; Katihar – Amritsar – Katihar; Dibrugarh – Jaynagar – Dibrugarh; New Jalpaiguri – Muzaffarpur – New Jalpaiguri and Kishanganj – Lalkuan - Kishanganj. Each train will run for six trips in both directions, ensuring smoother travel for passengers during the festive season. 

Special Train No. 05633 (Narangi – Gorakhpur) will run every Thursday from 19th February to 26th March 2026, departing from Narangi at 13:20 hrs and reaching Gorakhpur at 13:00 hrs the next day. Similarly, Special Train No. 05634 (Gorakhpur – Narangi) will run every Friday from 20th February to 27th March 2026, departing Gorakhpur at 16:55 hrs and arriving at Narangi at 21:40 hrs the next day. 

Special Train No. 05736 (Katihar – Amritsar) will run every Wednesday from 18th February to 25th March 2026, departing from Katihar at 21:00 hrs and reaching Amritsar at 09:45 hrs on Friday. Similarly, Special Train No. 05735 (Amritsar – Katihar) will run every Friday from 20th February to 27th March 2026, departing Amritsar at 13:25 hrs and arriving at Katihar at 23:45 hrs the next day. 

Special Train No. 05974 (Dibrugarh – Jaynagar) will run every Tuesday from 17th February to 24th March 2026, departing from Dibrugarh at 05:20 hrs and reaching Jaynagar at 13:00 hrs the next day. Similarly, Special Train No. 05973 (Jaynagar – Dibrugarh) will run every Wednesday from 18th February to 25th March 2026, departing Jaynagar at 16:00 hrs and arriving at Dibrugarh at 23:30 hrs the next day. 

Special Train No. 05740 (New Jalpaiguri – Muzaffarpur) will run every Saturday from 21st February to 28th March 2026, departing from New Jalpaiguri at 05:00 hrs and reaching Muzaffarpur at 18:00 hrs on the same day. Similarly, Special Train No. 05739 (Muzaffarpur – New Jalpaiguri) will run every Saturday from 21st February to 28th March 2026, departing Muzaffarpur at 22:00 hrs and arriving at New Jalpaiguri at 10:30 hrs the next day.

Special Train No. 05741 (Kishanganj – Lalkuan) will run every Thursday from 19th February to 26th March 2026, departing from Kishanganj at 08:30 hrs and reaching Lalkuan at 15:40 hrs the next day. Similarly, Special Train No. 05742 (Lalkuan – Kishanganj) will run every Friday from 20th February to 27th March 2026, departing Lalkuan at 20:40 hrs and arriving at Kishanganj at 02:00 hrs on Sunday. 

The train services aim to connect key destinations and ease congestion on regular trains, ensuring that passengers can celebrate the festival of colours with their families in a safe, convenient and timely manner. The details of stoppages and timings of these special trains are available at IRCTC website and are also being notified in various newspapers and social media platforms of NF Railway. Passengers are requested to verify the details before undertaking their journey.
