Haflong, February 1: The Dimasa Kachari Cultural troupe from Khoirabari, Udalguri District under BTAD Bodoland, Assam, captivated audiences with a vibrant performance of the traditional Baimaijai dance at the scenic Golf Field near the picturesque Umrangso lake in Garampani, Dima Hasao District.
The event drew enthusiastic participation from locals and visitors alike, highlighting the rich cultural heritage of the Dimasa community. Against the backdrop of the serene lake and rolling hills, the troupe’s rhythmic movements and traditional attire offered a glimpse into the age-old traditions that continue to thrive in Assam’s diverse cultural landscape.
In recognition of the performance and the growing interest in cultural tourism, the Dimasa Peoples Council (DPC) Assam Central Committee extended its congratulations to the troupe and expressed appreciation for the increasing number of domestic tourists visiting Dima Hasao.
The team was felicitated by the Halali Progressive Welfare Society Umrangso registered NGO of former DHD revolutionary organisation.
The Council emphasized that such cultural showcases not only preserve indigenous traditions but also strengthen community bonds and contribute to the district’s tourism economy.
Local observers noted that the rising tourist footfall in Dima Hasao is a positive sign for the region, which has long been celebrated for its natural beauty, cultural diversity, and warm hospitality.
