Guwahati, 10th February, 2026: Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava, General Manager of Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR), conducted an extensive safety inspection of the Dangtal–New Cooch Behar section under the Alipurduar Division on 10th February 2026, as part of Indian Railways’ ongoing efforts to enhance operational safety and infrastructure reliability. The inspection spanned a total length of 123 kilometres and was accompanied by senior officials from NFR Headquarters and the Alipurduar Division.

During the inspection, the General Manager thoroughly reviewed track conditions, minor and major bridges, signalling and telecommunication systems, traction installations, level crossing gates and station infrastructure along the route. Safety-critical assets such as curves, points and crossings, as well as ongoing maintenance works, were closely examined to ensure compliance with prescribed safety norms. He also interacted with railway officials and frontline staff to evaluate operational readiness, safety awareness and alertness, and assessed the availability and condition of essential safety equipment at stations and work sites.

As part of the programme, detailed station inspections were carried out at Kokrajhar, Fakiragram, Alipurduar and New Cooch Behar. Developmental works under the Amrit Station initiative were reviewed with emphasis on passenger amenities, station modernisation and overall improvement in service quality. The General Manager also inaugurated and reviewed newly created facilities such as waiting rooms, health units, crew lobbies and running rooms, and inspected traction substations, bridges and newly commissioned gang tool-cum-rest rooms. A speed trial between Kamakhyaguri and New Cooch Behar was conducted to evaluate track and rolling stock performance under operational conditions.

The inspection further included a rear window trailing inspection of the Dangtal–New Cooch Behar section, during which the General Manager observed track behaviour and operational performance. The visit reaffirmed NFR’s commitment to service excellence. Shri Shrivastava appreciated the dedicated efforts of railway staff and assured continued support towards strengthening railway services in the region.
