District Level Eco-Hackathon cum Exhibition Held in Dima Hasao Under Environment Education Programme
Haflong, February 28: Commemorating the National Science Day, an Eco-Hackathon cum Exhibition was organised at Cultural Institute Hall premises, Haflong under the Environment Education Programme to promote environmental awareness and innovative thinking among students and youth on Saturday
The programme was organised by Helping Everyone Live and Prosper Society (HELP Society), the District Nodal Agency for Dima Hasao. The initiative was implemented by the Assam Science Technology and Environment Council under the Science and Technology Department, Government of Assam, with support from the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India.
The event brought together students from 35 different schools took part and showcased creative ideas and practical solutions to address environmental challenges. Participants presented models and concepts on waste management, plastic reduction, water conservation, biodiversity protection and sustainable development.
District Commissioner, Munindra Nath Ngate, Surojeet Das, District Coordinator, District Nodal Agency (DNA), Dima Hasao, Environment Education Programme (EEP) & President, Helping Everyone Live and Prosper Society and two teachers graced the occasion.
The Eco-Hackathon provided a platform for young minds to think critically about local environmental issues and propose workable solutions. Judges evaluated the projects based on innovation, feasibility and relevance to the district’s needs.
Speakers at the programme stressed the importance of involving youth in environmental protection and encouraging scientific thinking at the grassroots level. They highlighted that such initiatives not only create awareness but also nurture responsibility towards nature and sustainable living.
Certificates and prizes were distributed to the best performing teams, while all participants were appreciated for their active involvement.
