Development of North East India: Education, Environment, Culture and Social Issues Inaugurated at Pandu College, Pandu

Guwahati, 05^th February 2026 – The much-anticipated book Development OF North east India: Educarion, Environment, Culture and Social Issues, edited by Dr. Niranjan Bhattacharjee and Dr. Siddheswar Sarmah, was officially inaugurated on 4^th February at Pandu College in the presence of distinguished guests, literary enthusiasts, and members of the media.

The inauguration ceremony was graced by Dr. Sanchay Jyoti Bora, Principal, Pandu College, Prof. Shiela Bora, Prof. Ratneswar Barman Rtd. Gauhati University, Prof. Prasanta Bhattacharya, HoD Dept. of Geography, Gauhati University, Dr. Siddheswar Sarmah, Secretary NEICSSR, Shillong and Dr. Premalata Devi, Research Officer, NEICSSR, along with faculty members of Dept. of Geography and research contributors, who unveiled the book and praised the author’s contribution to literature. The event also featured speeches from Prof. Shiela Bora, highlighting the importance of the book’s theme and its relevance in today’s world.

Speaking at the event, Dr. Niranjan Bhattacharjee editor, expressed gratitude to readers, mentors, and supporters, stating: “This book is a reflection of my journey and an attempt to share insights that I hope will inspire and engage readers.”

 

The three book volume explores all burning issues relating to the socio-environment and is expected to resonate with a wide audience. Published by Concept Publishing Company, Private Limited, New Delhi, the book will be available at leading bookstores and online platforms starting 04^th February, 2026.

The program anchored by Dr. Pubali Barman and the editor has highlighted the importance and background of the volumes as the entire articles are based on the result of an International Seminar held at Pandu College on 15^th and 16^th March, 2024.

The inauguration concluded with vote of thanks delivered by Sahil Choudhury, Assistant Professor, Department of Geography, Pandu College.
