Resource Persons’ Workshop on Upcycling Used Paper into Eco-Friendly Pens Held in Haflong

Haflong, January 19: A zonal-level resource persons’ workshop on “Upcycling of Used Paper into Eco-Friendly Pens” was held today at Haflong Government College in Dima Hasao district.
The workshop was organised by the Eco Club of Haflong Government College and implemented by the Assam Science Technology and Environment Council (ASTEC) under the Science and Technology Department, Government of Assam.

The programme was conducted as part of the Environmental Education Programme and supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Government of India. Members of Help Society also participated in the event.

A total of eight teacher members from school Eco Clubs representing five districts of Assam, namely Dima Hasao, Cachar, Hailakandi, Sribhumi, and Hojai, took part in the workshop. The participants were trained by experts in making eco-friendly pens and pencils using used paper.
The objective of the workshop was to build practical skills among teachers so they can further conduct similar training programmes in their respective districts. These trained teachers will reach out to schools in their areas, enabling students to learn and adopt eco-friendly pen-making practices, thereby promoting environmental awareness and sustainable habits among young learners.
