Asomi Bohagi Mela 2026 Inaugurated in Haflong


 
Haflong, January 15: The Assam State Rural Livelihoods Mission (ASRLM), Dima Hasao, organized a three-day Asomi Bohagi Mela 2026 at Lal Field, Haflong from January 13th to 15th.

It was inaugurated by chief guest Donpainon Thaosen, Executive Member (EM) of the North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC), in the presence of District Commissioner Munindra Nath Ngahtey, ACS; NCHAC Joint Secretary Rebecca Changsan, ACS; NCHAC Deputy Secretaries Laisringdi Naiding, ACS, and Sukanya Nunisa, ACS; the Project Director; Block Programme Managers (BPMs); Block Coordinators (BCs); and other dignitaries.



Addressing the gathering at the Bohagi Mela, Thaosen urged Self-Help Group (SHG) members to boost their income by diversifying products and tapping government support for marketing. He emphasized product innovation, accessing financial aid through government schemes, and adopting modern marketing techniques. Thaosen also stressed building business acumen and financial literacy to sustain their enterprises. SHGs were encouraged to leverage digital tools, e-commerce platforms, and the Government e-Marketplace (GeM) portal to reach broader audiences and secure larger orders.



The mela aims to showcase and promote SHG products, offering a vibrant platform for marketing, sales, and recognizing members' hard work. Visitors can explore 28 stalls featuring local handicrafts, traditional tribal attire, organic spices, and decorative items crafted by SHG artisans.
