Special Session of 13th DHAC Assembly Approves ₹30-Crore Supplementary Grants; Key Decisions on Dimasa Bhawan & LP Teachers’ Benefits
Haflong December 9: A Special Session of the 13th Dima Hasao Autonomous Council (DHAC) Assembly was convened today to deliberate on the Supplementary Demand Grants amounting to ₹30 crore. The House approved the grants after detailed discussions.
During the session, significant updates were shared regarding the construction of the long-awaited Dimasa Bhawan in Delhi. As per the 2012 Memorandum of Settlement signed with DHD and DHD(J), Union Home Minister Amit Shah had laid the foundation stones for both Karbi Bhawan and Dimasa Bhawan on 19 August 2019. While Karbi Bhawan progressed unhindered, the Dimasa Bhawan project was stalled due to prolonged legal complications.
However, clearing the path for renewed momentum, the Hon’ble Chief Minister has sanctioned ₹10 crore to expedite the construction work of Dimasa Bhawan. Officials expressed confidence that the project will now move forward without further hurdles.
In a related development, an Executive Committee Meeting held earlier today at the CEM’s Conference Hall brought a major relief to LP Teachers under the Normal Sector. The Council resolved to extend retirement benefits to these teachers, addressing a long-pending demand and rectifying an important welfare gap, as they earlier had no provision for such benefits.
