Assam LiFE for Nature Summit to Bring Together Government, Communities and Experts for a Resilient Future

Guwahati, 16 December:  Assam, a state defined by its rivers, forests, wetlands and resilient communities, is hosting the Assam LiFE for Nature Summit on 16–17 December 2025 at Novotel, Guwahati. The two-day Summit brings together senior government leaders, experts, civil society, media and youth to jointly deliberate on climate resilience, biodiversity conservation and sustainable livelihoods in Assam.

The Summit is organised by CMS VATAVARAN in collaboration with The Habitats Trust, under the national vision of Mission LiFE (Lifestyle for Environment) championed by the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India. It is supported by the Ministry of Environment, Forest & Climate Change (MoEFCC), UN Environment Programme (UNEP) India, UN World Food Programme (UNWFP).

At the State level, key institutions including the Assam Pollution Control Board, Assam Agroforestry Development Board, Assam State Biodiversity Board, Assam Science, Technology & Environment Council (ASTEC), Assam Climate Change Management Society (ACCMS), Government of Assam, Assam Disaster Management Authority, Brahmaputra Board, Aaranyak, Assam Skill University, WWF Assam, Care Luit and the Assam Press Club have joined as Program, Knowledge and Media Partners.

The Summit is designed as a convergence platform to address issues deeply relevant to Assam — floods and river erosion, human-wildlife conflict, climate-resilient livelihoods, wetlands and forest conservation, green skills, and community stewardship.

A coffee table book "A visual odyssey of Dehing Patkai" was released at the inaugural session. This coffee table book was created under Project Elephant, by DFO office, Digboi Division. The book is a pictorial amalgamation of wildlife, natural beauty & richness of Dihing Patkai national park and its surrounding habitats. The book also gives an overview of struggles and achievements of Digboi division and culture & history of surrounding towns & villages of the range.
The book is conceptualised and designed by Ms Jyotsna Neog, a writer and award winning film maker from Digboi.
