NCHAC CEM participates the inaugural ceremony of World Heritage Week at Haflong


 
Haflong November 19: The North Cachar Hills Autonomous Council (NCHAC) Chief Executive Member (CEM) Debolal Gorlosa participated in the inaugural ceremony of World Heritage Week at the Amphitheatre, Haflong Lake Campus, an event jointly organised by the Archaeological Survey of India and the Department of Archaeology & District Museum, Dima Hasao Autonomous Council on Wednesday. 

The week-long celebration, held from November 19 to 25, aims to raise awareness about the region’s rich cultural heritage, monuments, and the importance of preserving humanity’s remarkable sites and traditions within the district.



The ceremony was attended by Chairman Mohet Hojai, Executive Members Manjit Naiding and Donpainon Thaosen, Superintending Archaeologist of the Archaeological Survey of India (Guwahati Circle)  Rajendra Dehuri, Deputy Superintending Archaeologist Dr. Archana Asthana, and DHAC Principal Secretary Partha S. Johori. 


World Heritage Week features a series of programs including exhibitions, art competitions, and awareness campaigns targeting students and the wider community. These activities underscore the diversity of the region’s heritage and encourage collective responsibility to preserve and cherish cultural treasures for future generations.

Leaders and participants urged the community to recognize and protect the district’s historical assets and traditions, emphasizing that “preserving our past will inspire our future.” They extended wishes for a meaningful and impactful World Heritage Week, inviting everyone to cherish the shared cultural heritage.
