The five-day Durga Puja concludes in Haflong
Haflong Oct 3: The five-day Durga Puja concluded with the immersion of idols in the Diyung River on Thursday. Most household and community puja organizers transported idols to the Diyung River, located 7 km from Haflong, for the ritual.
People were seen on both sides of the road waiting to bid adieu to Ma Durga with the hope of her grand arrival the next year.
The Dima Hasao district administration and police mandated that immersions be completed before sunset (4 PM) at designated sites.
Adequate police personnel were deployed to oversee the immersion process and ensure safety, preventing any untoward incidents. A total of 20 Durga idols were immersed in the Diyung River, with officials from the Dima Hasao district administration present. Women participated enthusiastically in the sindoor khela ritual, celebrating in large numbers.
