NFR Records 3.5% Growth in Freight Loading, Reflecting Regional Economic Upsurge
Guwahati, 12th October, 2025: Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) continues its dedicated efforts to ensure efficient freight movement and timely delivery of essential commodities across the region. Demonstrating remarkable performance, NFR has achieved a 3.5% increase in freight loading during the current fiscal year up to September 2025, with a total of 5.557 million tonnes (MT) loaded compared to the same period last year.
According to an official statement issued by Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer, NFR witnessed significant growth in the loading of several key commodities in September 2025. Cement loading registered an impressive 48.1% increase, coal loading surged by 133.3%, container loading rose by 21.4%, and Petroleum, Oil, and Lubricant (POL) loading increased by 20.1%. In addition, the loading of stone chips showed a substantial rise of 100% compared to the corresponding period of the previous fiscal year.
This consistent upward trajectory in freight loading highlights the growing economic activity and industrial momentum within the region. The increase not only boosts NFR’s overall revenue but also plays a pivotal role in strengthening the regional economy.
