Indian Railways Runs 12,011 Special Trains to Manage Festive Rush 620 Special Train Trips by NFR Zone from September to December 2025

 

Guwahati, 25th October, 2025: To accommodate the surge in passenger demand during the ongoing festive season, Indian Railways (IR) has announced the operation of 12,011 special trains, marking a substantial rise from 7,724 trains operated during the same period last year. These trains aim to ensure smooth travel for millions during Puja, Diwali, and Chhath.

In the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) zone, 48 special festival trains are operating across various routes, covering a total of 620 trips between September and December 2025.

According to an official statement given by Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of NFR, extensive passenger-friendly measures have been implemented at key stations including Katihar, New Jalpaiguri, Guwahati, Jogbani, and Kishanganj. Facilities such as holding areas, passenger announcement systems, fans, extra ticket counters, and automatic ticket vending machines have been set up to ensure passenger convenience. In addition, round-the-clock war rooms, additional staff, and RPF personnel have been deployed for efficient crowd management and passenger assistance.

Special trains are connecting major destinations such as Katihar, Kishanganj, New Jalpaiguri, Sonpur, Dauram Madhepura, Agartala, New Tinsukia, SMVT Bengaluru, Amritsar, Patna, Dibrugarh, Gorakhpur, Silchar, Naharlagun, Kolkata, Guwahati, Ranchi, Charalapalli, Mumbai Central, Agra Cantt, Jogbani, Lumding, Howrah, Gomti Nagar, Anand Vihar, Kamakhya, and many others.

On 26th October 2025 (Sunday), the following trains are scheduled to operate:

Train No. 07541 Katihar – Dauram Madhepura (Daily Special) departs Katihar at 19:00 hrs and arrives at Dauram Madhepura at 22:00 hrs.

Train No. 07542 Dauram Madhepura – Katihar (Daily Special) departs at 22:45 hrs and arrives at 02:30 hrs.

Train No. 07540 Katihar – Manihari (Daily Special) departs at 20:30 hrs and arrives at 21:30 hrs.

Train No. 07539 Manihari – Katihar (Daily Special) departs at 05:00 hrs and arrives at 06:00 hrs.

Train No. 07551 Manihari – Katihar (Daily Special) departs at 00:15 hrs and arrives at 01:30 hrs.

Train No. 07552 Katihar – Manihari (Daily Special) departs at 02:00 hrs and arrives at 03:15 hrs.

Train No. 07555 Katihar – Jogbani (Daily Special) departs at 21:30 hrs and arrives at 01:15 hrs.

Train No. 07554 Jogbani – Katihar (Daily Special) departs at 02:00 hrs and arrives at 05:45 hrs.

Train No. 05738 New Jalpaiguri – Narkatiaganj Jn (Weekly Special) departs at 14:05 hrs and arrives at 05:00 hrs.

Train No. 05626 Rohtak Jn – Kamakhya Jn (Weekly Special) departs at 22:10 hrs and arrives at 15:30 hrs.

Train No. 05744 Katihar – Sonpur (Tri-Weekly Special) departs at 18:00 hrs and arrives at 01:00 hrs.

Train No. 03129 Kolkata Terminal – New Jalpaiguri (Weekly Special) departs at 23:40 hrs and arrives at 10:45 hrs.

Train No. 05742 New Jalpaiguri – Gomti Nagar (Weekly Special) departs at 07:00 hrs and arrives at 07:15 hrs.

Train No. 04007 Jogbani – Anand Vihar Terminal (Weekly Special) departs at 18:30 hrs and arrives at 03:00 hrs.
