Doomdooma, October 31: In a significant step towards women empowerment and infrastructural transformation, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma today participated in a massive cheque distribution programme under the Chief Minister Mahila Udyamita Abhiyan (MMUA) at Doomdooma. A total of 13,822 women beneficiaries from the constituency received cheques of ₹10,000 each, marking a milestone in the government’s continued efforts to promote women’s entrepreneurship and self-reliance across Assam.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Sarma reaffirmed his government’s commitment to empowering women as a driving force for economic and social progress. He highlighted that the MMUA aims to uplift women by providing them with the financial means to initiate small businesses and contribute to their family’s income, ultimately strengthening the rural economy.
During his visit, the Chief Minister also laid the foundation stones for nine major development projects worth a total of ₹183 crore, reflecting the state government’s dedication to the all-round growth of the Doomdooma constituency. The projects include:
1. Construction of a sports project and stadium at Doomdooma College
2. Establishment of an indoor stadium and multipurpose building at Town Field
3. Construction of new school buildings at Kakajan and Arunodoi High Schools
4. Flood and erosion protection works in various parts of Doomdooma
5. Widening and improvement of the Old A.T. Road
6. Construction of an RCC bridge over the Doomdooma River
7. Development of 24 new school buildings under the Prime Minister Chah Shramik Protsahan Yojana
These initiatives are expected to not only improve the region’s physical infrastructure but also enhance educational, sports, and transportation facilities for residents.
Additionally, under the Mukhyamantrir Unnoto Pakipath Nirman Asoni, the Chief Minister inaugurated the newly constructed road from National Highway 37 to Dariyabeti, a long-awaited development that will significantly ease local connectivity.
As part of his visit, Dr. Sarma also planted a tree in the premises of Rupai High School playground, symbolizing the government’s ongoing commitment to environmental sustainability.
The day’s events reflected a perfect blend of empowerment and development — empowering women with financial independence and strengthening Doomdooma’s infrastructure for a brighter, more resilient future.
