NFR Launches Eco-Friendly Drive Under Swachhata Hi Seva 2025.

Guwahati, 18 September, 25: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has launched the "Swachhata Hi Seva" 2025 campaign across all its divisions and headquarters from September 17, 2025. The campaign, which will continue till October 2, will be observed in stations, trains, workshops, colonies, offices and other railway establishments with the aim of promoting cleanliness, sustainability and public awareness.

On the opening day, General Manager of NFR Shri Chetan Kumar Shrivastava led officers and staff in taking the Swachhata Pledge, reaffirming NFR’s commitment to building a cleaner and greener environment.

According to the official statement given by Kapinjal Kishore Sharma, Chief Public Relations Officer of NFR , throughout the campaign period, NFR will organise a wide range of activities under the theme "Swachhotsav". These include intensive cleanliness drives in station premises, tracks, colonies and offices, along with awareness programmes for passengers and local communities. Workshops for railway staff and special initiatives to eliminate unserviceable materials are also planned. The campaign will focus on the “3R” principle—reduce, reuse and recycle—to foster a culture of environmental responsibility.

Senior officials, staff, passengers and members of the public will actively participate in cleanliness initiatives, interactive sessions, pledges and awareness campaigns highlighting the importance of hygiene and sanitation.

As a special eco-friendly measure, NFR has introduced compostable bags manufactured by IIT Guwahati for the distribution of bedrolls in all originating trains. This innovative step promotes sustainable practices while aligning railway services with the national mission of Swachh Bharat Abhiyan.
