Gauhati University NSS Cell Organises Week-Long Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.
Guwahati, 18 September, 25: In line with the direction of the Hon’ble Governor of Assam, Gauhati University, in association with the GU NSS Cell, organised a week-long program on Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan from September 13 to 19 at the conference hall of Gauhati University Institute of Science and Technology. The program was inaugurated by Dr. Ranjan Kumar Kakati, Director of Students’ Welfare, Gauhati University, who appealed to the youth to take active steps in creating a drug-free society.
The session featured two resource persons, Ms. Anamriya Baruah, Project Coordinator of the State Level Coordinating Agency for Drug Prevention in Assam and Meghalaya under the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, Assam Chapter, and Shri Pankaj Chouhan, Intelligence Officer of the Narcotics Control Bureau, Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, Guwahati Branch. Both speakers delivered insightful talks on the objectives of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan, highlighting the harmful effects of drugs, alcohol, and substance abuse while stressing the need for awareness and prevention.
As part of the initiative, an awareness rally was organised, followed by a pledge-taking ceremony where participants committed themselves to the vision of a drug-free India. The program was coordinated by Dr. Sashi Prava Devi, Assistant Professor, Department of Botany, Gauhati University.
The week-long campaign reflected the university’s commitment to spreading awareness among students and the community, carrying forward the mission of a Nasha Mukt Bharat.
